What is Public Relations ch1

The public relations process can be described with the RACE acronym: Research, Action, Communication, and Evaluation. The process is a constant cycle, feedback and program adjustment are integral components of the overall process.  Public relations differ from advertising and marketing. Yes, it does use some of the same things and have the same objectives but relations goes beyond just that. In the past those entering PR were often former journalists, but that is no longer the case because PR has evolved beyond publicity and media relations. In addition, PR is now widely recognized as its own distinct academic discipline in colleges and universities throughout the world. Public relations is has many different areas: writing, research, planning, problem-solving, and business/ economics.
